If you are like me, you are not a big wine drinker, I love Champagne, however! Let’s mix up the boring old champagne toast, or even the boring old Kir Royale with a little color from blackberry brandy.
The Kir Royale is a classic French cocktail known for its elegance and simplicity. It combines dry sparkling wine, traditionally Champagne, with a splash of crème de cassis, a blackcurrant liqueur. The result is a beautifully tinted, slightly sweet drink that is perfect for celebratory occasions or as an aperitif.
The Kir Royale traces its origins to the mid-20th century in France and is named after Félix Kir, a mayor of Dijon and a prominent figure in Burgundy. He popularized the original Kir cocktail, a mix of white wine and crème de cassis, as a way to promote local products from the region. Over time, the Kir Royale emerged as a more refined version of the drink, substituting Champagne for white wine to create an elegant and celebratory variation that remains a symbol of French sophistication.
